MEET OUR CHEF
Chef Joe Volpe grew up in Shorewood, Wisconsin. Joe decided early in life to carry on the family bar and restaurant legacy. Completing his culinary school at MATC, chef continued extended studies in France for baking. Joe has worked all over the country under notable chefs. He infuses his experiences in the dishes he proudly brings back to his menu at Newport 1875.

Following the success of Lago Su Bella, Michael Bertrand and Chef/Partner Joseph Volpe bring their second restaurant to life with Newport 1875 - A space designed to honor Oconomowoc’s rich history while introducing a bold, global culinary experience. Inspired by the character of the city and the stories embedded in its past, Newport 1875 was created as a place where history is felt, not just remembered.
The restaurant reflects Michael’s belief that food, design, and culture are inseparable. Every detail, from iconic architectural elements to thoughtfully curated design pieces, was chosen to celebrate the legacy and rich history of Oconomowoc.
